//1 PERSONALITY

When selecting a wedding photographer for your Niagara | Hamilton | Halton venue, you are selecting more than just a photographer for a few hours. You are hiring a wedding photographer that will be with you, your family, and your group all day. Personality is a big deal and should not be overlooked or discounted in any way. Look for someone who is fun, flexible, skilled and professional.  Someone who truly invested in you, your friends, and your family.  Your wedding day is extremely personal and your images should reflect your uniqueness and style.

Remember that your photographer’s personality can set the tone for the entire day, and can serve to motivate and engage you and your bridal party. Ultimately it can impact your wedding photography and the experience of the day altogether. You will more than likely be working with your wedding photographer for a year, or longer in some cases, by the time you factor in your engagement session, email correspondence, wedding photography, and product/album selections.  We strive to treat our clients and their families with the utmost respect and make them feel loved from start to finish.  On the wedding day, your family is our family, and we treat them as such, hence our tagline “you are loved!”.  We get that this wedding is a major event in not only your lives, but theirs as well.  We want your family and guests to enter into that joy as much as possible so some “Reed Love” will be free-flowing all day long.

//2 PRICE

While price is always a factor when selecting your Niagara | Hamilton | Halton wedding photographer, it should not be the only thing that matters. Sadly, we often hear horror stories from brides who made a decision for their wedding photography based solely on price.  Going for the cheaper photographer, family friend, weekend warrior or Kijiji hero is always a dangerous move.  Sure they offer what seems like the whole shabam, but it often turns out to be a tragic disappointment in the end.   We get that – we made a bad decision ourselves with our own wedding long before this became our career!  Our regret is your advantage as we don’t ever want someone to feel the way that we did.  When all is said and done, the photography will most likely be the one thing you take away to truly remember your wedding day.  The old adage that you get what you pay for seems to prove true in this case.  Do your research and really look carefully at the wedding photographers you are choosing.  We’d personally love to shoot your wedding, but we realize we’re not for everyone.  We’d be happy to help you in any way we can whether you decide to book with us or not.

//3 ALBUMS

What will you do with all of your images after the big day is gone? Most people choose to place them in a beautifully crafted wedding album that your wedding photographer should provide you with. Don’t underestimate the importance of a wedding album. This is your first family heirloom and a keepsake you will have forever to remember.  This book will be coveted not only by you but throughout future generations as well.

Wedding albums come in all shapes, sizes, colours, textures, and tones.  Choose an option that showcases both quality and functionality.  We hope you’ll actually pick up your album and enjoy it and don’t just turn it into another dust collector!

Questions you should ask your Niagara/Hamilton/Halton wedding photographer

1) How many pages come in my wedding album? 2) How many images will be in my wedding album? 3) What cover options are available for my wedding album? 4) How much for additional pages/spreads? 4) How long will it take to receive it?

//4 COVERAGE

Something often overlooked when selecting a Niagara | Hamilton | Halton wedding photographer is the number of hours that will be needed for wedding day coverage. Typically you will want your wedding photographer to be with you to document all the key moments of your wedding day. After all, that’s what you are hiring them for! That being said, typical coverage requirements for your wedding day should be about 7-10 hours on average. Don’t think the shots of the bride and groom getting ready aren’t important.  They often capture candid moments with raw emotions of close friends and dear family.  They also capture the details you put a lot of thought, time, energy and money into.

Be careful here. Some Niagara wedding photographers offer cut-rate prices by offering you less than adequate wedding coverage for your day. These become hidden costs and once you realize it, it’s often too late.  Look for someone who you trust to tell your story.

//5 NUMBER OF PHOTOGRAPHERS

How many photographers will be at your event? Most events require at least two wedding photographers. This ensures that your primary wedding photographer is focused on working with your group and directing the day, and allows the second shooter to have coverage going on at the same time to capture those more rare and authentic candid shots.

We find that by having two photographers at your event, all your wedding photography needs will be met all while ensuring nothing gets missed from your big day.  Being a husband and wife photography team means that we eat, breathe and work together – giving us a unique connection and insight during a shoot.  We aren’t just hiring out a random second shooter as some photographers do.  We always work together, and the advantage is that our work is cohesive.  It is seamless to the point you can’t tell who shot what.  Sometimes the second shooter hired purely on availability has a radically different style than the original photographer you hired, which results in radically different shooting styles and images that just don’t blend.

//6 EXPERIENCE

We are big advocates of using local vendors and finding experts right in our Niagara community.  After all, who else knows Niagara as well as the people who live here? We grew up here, raise our families here, and plan to stay here until we’re old and gray!  As local Niagara wedding photographers, we understand those small backyard tent weddings, we get the feel of a rustic Niagara barn wedding, we know classic winery weddings like the back of our hard, and we know all of the venues/vendors personally.  Please hit us up for recommendations.  We’ve shot intimate weddings in Niagara on the Lake, winery weddings in the vineyards of Niagara, and glamorous weddings in Niagara Falls.  We love this place – and you do too if you are considering hosting your wedding in Niagara | Hamilton | Halton or surrounding areas.
